Nohman, a wealthy furniture merchant in Domiatt, lives a life of power and privilege with his wife Najla, three daughters, and son Khaled from his late wife. Khaled, who is autistic, is the focus of his father’s desire for a legacy, prompting Nohman to arrange his marriage to Karima, a kind and devoted young woman who promises to care for him.
